Reflection

Today in maths we had to make a reflection poster, here is mine.

 

Baseball

 Today during 3rd period we had to go play baseball on the field with Craig (the instructor). At first we started with learning how to step in and throw the ball, we then practiced throwing the ball with a partner. We played around and practiced for a bit and then we started playing the game. In the beginning I wasn't enjoying it but then I got used to it and ended up liking it.

"When will father be home mother?" asked Milly "Your father should be home any minute now Milly," said mother. Milly sat down and her mother got Milly's supper and placed it in front of her. "Your welcome, Now tell me what have you been doing in that room of yours you have been in there for hours?" asked mother "Well I-" Milly got stopped as her father walked in. "Hello, darlings sorry I'm a little late, ill just take my coat off and ill be ready to eat supper," said father "Hello dad" "Hello darling" replied Milly and mother. "Now Milly what were you saying?" "Well, I've been painting in my room because I had an old picture frame and I had a blank canvas and I wanted to use the new paints I got for my birthday!" said Milly "What have you painted Milly?" asked father. "I started off not knowing what I was doing but then I looked at the map in the bottle on my dresser and it reminded me of a boat. So I decided to paint a boat," replied Milly. "How far have you gotten with it darling?" asked Mother.....

                                                                                                                                                                           The Māori land march was started because the government took some of the Māori land. Lenny described it as if someone took there Tapa cloth what would they do and of course you wouldn't let them take or you would fight for it.

Which animal is the Heaviest? 

The blue whale is the Heaviest animal in the world weighing in at 150,000kg (an adult blue whale) 

Which animal is the Fastest? 

The Peregrine Falcon is the Fastest animal/bird in the world with a top speed of 240 miles per hour. 

What animal is the Loudest? 

A Howler monkey is the loudest animal in the world, some say that their call is more like a growl. They can be heard upto 5km away

Lastly what Smelliest? 

The Smelliest animal in the world a member of the weasel family. It is a Zorilla skunk, it gives off a fluid from the anal glands when it must defend itself from danger.

Flying Grandma Game!

This is the Flying Grandma Game Lucy, Ngaaraima and I have created.

Instructions: Use the arrow keys to move. Use the SPACE bar to use your magic powers. The aim of the game to collect the stars, at the end see how many points you have. Each star is worth 10 points.

We have been reading a book named Rainfall by Ella West and we had a task board to complete about the book so here's all the links to my work.

Kōwhai Seed Planting

Today we planted Kowhai seeds here are the steps.
First, we got our cups and spoons/soil tablets and 50mls of water. We poured the water over the soil tablet and waited for the soil to absorb the water.
Once it had absorbed the water we took the coating off the soil and mixed it together.
Then we used sandpaper and lightly scraped the seed about 6-7 times. Once that was done we got a peat pot to plant our seed in.
We used most of the soil then made a hole in the middle to place the seed in, then we covered it with the remaining soil.
Then we placed the peat pot into a clear plastic cup and placed our names on the cup.

A Window Into My Lockdown

This is a window into my lockdown this isn't everything that happened but this is what I spent the majority of my time doing. The 3 things I spent most of my time doing was playing/using my phone, going on Netflix and Baking/Cooking.

The Mona Lisa

A)What is the name of the artwork? The Mona Lisa.

B) Who is the artist? Leonardo da Vinci.

C) Where is the artist from? Anchiano, Italy.

D) List three facts about the artist: 1, He was born in 1452. 2, He died in 1519 (aged 67) 3, Leonardo did not get any formal education.

E) What does the artwork represent? The Mona Lisa's famous smile represents the sitter in the same way that the juniper branches represent Ginevra Benci and the ermine represents Cecilia Gallerani in their portraits, in Washington and Krakow respectively.

F) Where is it currently displayed? The Mona Lisa is being displayed in the Louvre Museum.

G) When was it completed? 1503.

H) Why did you choose this piece of art? Because out of all the artwork I knew the most about the Mona Lisa.

Making Bug's!

We watched a video of how to make a bug of of the things in your backyard/garden here are some steps in how to make your own, also some questions I had to answer. 

A) What are the steps?
 1. Forage for materials
 2. Get into the flow
 3. Choose an insect
 4. Build your bug
 5. Take sweet picture!

B) Do they look realistic? Are they easy to make?
I think they look quite realistic and I think they would be easy to make but you'd have to be creative and use your imagination.

C) How do you think he chooses which bug to make?
I think he looks at the materials he has and sorts through what he has and then makes his mind up about the most practical bug to make with his materials.

D) What do you have in your backyard?
I have a lot of flowers, twigs, leaves and plants plus a whole lot more!

E) What could you use to make a sculpture?
I could use flowers, leaves twigs berries/seeds from the plants

F) What insect would you choose?
I don't know what i'd choose it would always depend on what I have to make the bug.

The Bush Fire

It's Monday the 30th March, the day we go hunting! Hunting is my favourite thing to do. Dad always takes me to help him we have done it every year since I was 4, I am now 12. My name is Ollie and my dad's name is Matt. Mum hates when we go hunting because she thinks I might get sick or get ingured, I have been ingured before but it was only a cut on my leg, there was a stick sticking out of the bush and I ran into it.
6 hours later...
Son wake up we here now, we have a long walk ahead of us. So it took two and a half hours to climb up to the cabin. Now we are up here we are going to bed for a early start tomorrow morning.
The next day...
"WAKE UP WAKE UP the bush is on Fire!!"  screamed Ollie. Ollie and Matt now had to get all the way down the hill before the fire got to close. They quickly grabbed their things and ran down the mountain, it still took them an hour and a half to get down and on the way Ollie rolled his unkle and Matt passed out when he got to the bottom. When they got to the bottom there were police and fire trucks everywhere there was even a helicopter. Mum came as quickly as possible. They ended up knowing what caused the fire it was some kids messing around that had a campfire and never put it out.
