Equal Pay For Equal Work?

The Black Ferns have only recently been named "professional ruby players" who are paid to play rugby. Although they are professional rugby players they don't get paid the same amount as the All Blacks. The difference in the amount they are paid is usually called the "gender pay gap" Now I have a few questions I have to answer about all of the above. What do you think about this? Is it fair? Should female athletes, like the Black Ferns, be paid the same amount as male athletes who play the same sport? I think they should but then again they wouldn't have the same crowd and popularity as the All Blacks. I don't think it's fair because women and men should have the same rights (and pay) I think all female and male athletes should have the same pay especially when they are doing the same sport.

You make a couple of excellent points about the wage disparity between male and female professional rugby players. I also like that you really thought out your ideas, creating possible counter arguments to your opinion and considering whether or not they might explain why there is a difference. It’s always important when forming an opinion to look at both sides of the argument and then reach your own conclusion. You have done an incredible job at this and I’m very impressed by your logic.

Do you think, suppose the Black Ferns has the same crowd numbers and popularity as the All Blacks, that they would be paid the same? Or do other factors also contribute to the wage difference?
